Untamed Australia Season 1 Untamed Australia is an unusual and colourful wildlife documentary series that provides a unique account of the bizarre animals living in the wetlands, islands, deserts, and Outback of Australia, the ‘Island Continent’. The series was filmed over a number of years by some of the best wildlife filmmakers, mainly on location in the Australian Outback and nature reserves in different parts of the country. By using the best camera techniques available, including static, hidden cameras, underwater cameras and special night equipment, Untamed Australia has managed to capture the beautiful and unusual creatures and seasons of the vast Australian wilderness in amazing quality and unparalleled clarity. It looks at the many different animals that live in the range of habitats that make up this vast continent. The islands, deserts and Outback each have their own weather systems and micro climates and support a vast variety of wildlife throughout the year. From Arnhem Land to Kangaroo Island, and from Mount Artula to the billabongs and rivers of the north, the varied scenery of Australia is breathtaking, harsh, lush and cruel. The filmmakers have focused on a small number of key species, by following them through their life cycles and key events. Many other animals make a brief appearance and some are shown in amazing detail. The series follows families of Dingoes, Kangaroos, Koalas, Camels and Crocodiles over a period of time, showing their development, family structure, feeding habits and survival strategies. Each animal is a link in the food chain and this series shows both natural beauty and cruelty. Untamed Australia provides more than ten hours of amazing footage of some of the most amazing and bizarre creatures in the world. Only in Australia do we find such a rich variety of marsupials, reptiles, birds and mammals not found anywhere else on earth. No interviews with scientists, no CGI graphics, no re-enactments or unnecessary background info – just ten hours of animals in their natural habitats, without a single human in sight.
The highlights of the series include: • Young dingo pups playing & socialising • Kangaroos foraging on the beach • Koalas mating in a tree • Close-up footage of 6 month old Koala • Crocodiles hatching from their eggs • Tiny, pink, newborn kangaroo in mother's pouch • Crocodiles fishing for crabs • Flying Foxes mating upside-down • Unique underwater footage of a platypus feeding • Frilled Lizard • Large herd of camels galloping through the Outback • Underwater footage of 'salties' hunting barramundi • Pack hierarchy of dingoes when feeding on a carcass • Close-up of brown serpent hunting rats • Eagle attacking a dingo pup and a bearded dragon • Very elaborate 'nest' of a bower bird • Amazing chase of a rabbit by dingoes • Brown snakes mating • Very close-up footage of possoms and the thorny devil • Bearded dragons hunting finches and cockraches • Incredibly close-up of honey ants
